Hola, bonjour, oi, ciao, hallo…. hi. 🙂
If you haven’t figured this out yet, I’m a language person. Learning and speaking foreign languages has been one of my longest lifetime passions. It’s what kick-started my long-term travels at age 18, and it’s what drives me to want to study abroad even today, at age 34.

I’m a HUGE proponent of study abroad, language apps, language immersion programs, and connecting with locals in their native language as I travel. I’ve written blog posts about how to learn a foreign language, why it’s important that you do so, my experience studying languages abroad, and how my brain sorts through the various languages I speak.
Learning to communicate in foreign languages has completely changed my life. #understatement
I’m fluent in Spanish, with an accent so native that Spanish-speakers think it’s my mother tongue. I didn’t grow up speaking Spanish. I learned it in school, then made the effort to study abroad, immerse myself, and perfect my skills. That might sound above and beyond or maybe even impossible to you, but you know what? I am not alone.
Why am I telling you all this?
I recently invited five other fluent-in-Spanish US-Americans to join me on the podcast to share their stories about how they learned Spanish, why it’s important to them, how it has changed their lives, what they are doing with it, and how YOU can make it a priority in your life as well. I don’t want you to miss this inspiring conversation, which is getting feedback like, “That podcast about language-learning was ***GREAT***… Everyone on the episode (you included) was outstanding,” and “Me alegré escuchar un podcast con sabor español!” (Thank you and please keep them coming!)
These five guys are Ford (whom you may remember from previous episodes), Chad, Zach, Dustin, and Clayton, founders of Los Gringos TV.
In this two-part conversation (episodes 107 and 108), you’ll get to hear us each speak fluent Spanish in our distinct, often near-native accents and share our individual and collective language-learning journeys. These episodes are in English, except for a couple small parts in Spanish, which are meant to inspire YOU to take the next step on your language learning journey (watch the video below!).

Action (an invitation for you to start learning right now):
Besides getting inspired by the content of the podcast episodes themselves, our supporting partners for these episodes are Tossable Digits (which you may recognize from the BMT blog), they are offering a special deal for listeners, and Pimsleur, a language-learning app that is offering a 7-day free trial for JUMP listeners, and just $14.95/mo thereafter for ALL the levels of the language you choose to study. I’m currently working through their German course, und Ich verstehe ein bisschen Deutsch!
Happy listening and learning! #jumpwithjackie
P.S. If you do decide to jump on board with Pimsleur and start (or continue) learning a language, please reach out to me on Instagram and tell me about it, I want to celebrate that decision with you! You never know where it might take you…
