Best Luggage for Adventure Travel

August 12, 20250

I’m gearing up for my upcoming adventures to Peru and Chile starting next month, which includes making sure I have what I need BEFORE I travel.

Figuring out what to pack for a trip can be hard enough on its own, but one thing people often overlook is choosing exactly the right luggage to pack and carry with you. I’ve made many mistakes in luggage choice over and over in my past 20+ years of traveling, and I’m here to help you get it right!

Because the truth is…

Your choice of luggage can make or break a trip.

One of the keys to ensuring smooth transportation, happy back & shoulders, and good organization, not to mention great technical support on your adventure activities, is choosing your packing vessels wisely. Comfortable and manageable luggage is SO important.

Good Packing Starts with Good Luggage

The goal on a trip is to focus on what you’re seeing and doing, not being miserable because you packed wrong. And packing begins with luggage. Over the years, I’ve figured out exactly what luggage combinations works for me, I have my favorites, and I want to share them with you. So, I made you a video reviewing my go-to pieces for adventure travel luggage.

Best Adventure Travel Luggage

In it, I share:

  • My go-to luggage for adventure travel (you will nearly always see me with THESE pieces)
  • How I combine pieces comfortably for transit (and which ones pass as carry-ons, can fit an iPhone in the pocket, etc.)
  • Which specific situations I use each for (i.e. hiking, biking, day hikes, thru-hikes, etc.)
  • AND a few special accessories that complement all of this luggage that I never leave home without

Here’s the quick and dirty cheat sheet for the all the luggage I review in the video – watch the video to find out WHEN I use each one, and stay to the end for specifics on the must-have travel accessories (these are affiliate links, thanks for using them!):

Please leave a comment if you have any questions about these packs that I might be able to answer. I hope you find this helpful!

P.S. Yes, all of these are Osprey products. I am an Osprey Ambassador, so naturally this is what I use and adore! No, Osprey did not ask me to make this video. ALL of these opinions are my own, as always.
